The Lincoln Leapers Jump Rope Team is a non-profit association that was established in 1982 as a small elementary school skipping club.

Since 1982, the sport of Jump Rope has grown and so has the Lincoln Leapers Jump Rope Team as they have traveled across the globe competing in a variety of events and performing hundreds of shows, showcasing the sport of Jump Rope.  This organization also has been actively involved in promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for youth in the Niagara Region.

The team is based out of Lincoln, Ontario and represents the Niagara Region for competitions and performances.  It is the official demonstration team for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s “Jump Rope for Heart” program in the Niagara Region.

There are currently 28 skilled and dedicated athletes on the competitive team ranging in age from 6 to 21 years old.  The breathtaking athleticism of rope jumping is noticeable in the Lincoln Leapers through their exceptional accomplishments. This team has attained Regional, Provincial, National and World Championship Titles.  Practicing several hours each week, these skippers train with a high level of commitment to take the sport of Jump Rope to an elite level.

The coaches are equally dedicated individuals as they are strictly volunteers and donate all their time to this sport.  It is the goal of the skippers and their coaches to make Jump Rope an Olympic sport.

Previous members have provided jump rope instruction at the Cirque de Soliel and Christine Cadeau, a Leaper alumnus, was a full time touring performer with their show for 5 years.  Two former Leapers performed in the Disney movie “Jump In”.  Another Leaper alumnus, Tanya Verbeek, won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in wrestling.
